Durham, NC — March 31, 2026 — SutureTech, a medical device company pioneering advanced soft tissue repair solutions, announces the first surgical case for its flagship product, the RapidFix™ All-Suture DualAnchor Mattress Repair System™. The procedure was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr.Vytautas Ringus during a Lateral Extra-articular Tenodesis (LET) repair to help stabilize the knee, demonstrating the potential versatility of the RapidFix system across multiple soft tissue repair applications. The case marks the first clinical use of the RapidFix system following the 510(k) clearance granted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in September 2025.
"As surgeons, we're constantly evaluating technologies that may help address procedural challenges and support patient care," said Dr. Vytautas Ringus. "Having the opportunity to perform the first case with RapidFix was particularly interesting because the system introduces a novel fixation approach that can be applied across a variety of soft tissue repair procedures. I look forward to continued experience with the technology and evaluating its role in clinical practice."
RapidFix is an internal fixation device for soft tissue repair, combining an all-suture anchor construct with a broad horizontal mattress configuration. Designed for use in arthroscopic and open procedures, it facilitates fixation of soft tissue to bone across a range of orthopedic applications. While initially conceived to address challenges observed in rotator cuff repair procedures, RapidFix is intended for use across multiple tendon and ligament repair applications.
The system was envisioned by SutureTech Founder and CEO Dr. Oke Anakwenze, former Chief of Shoulder Surgery and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Duke University, after observing persistent challenges in tendon repair procedures throughout his clinical career. Working alongside engineers, surgeons, and development partners, Dr. Anakwenze spent nearly a decade guiding the product through design refinement, regulatory preparation, and clinical feedback to translate the concept into clinical practice.
"Seeing RapidFix used in a patient for the first time represents a meaningful milestone for our company and the culmination of years of dedication from our team, collaborators, and partners," said Dr. Anakwenze. "As a surgeon, I've had the privilege of helping patients directly in the operating room. As an innovator, it's incredibly rewarding to see an idea evolve from concept to clinical use and ultimately support surgeons across a range of soft tissue repair procedures. We are grateful to Dr. Ringus for performing this first case and helping advance this important next step in our journey."
